Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

WHERE DID ALL THAT COME FROM?

By 8.30am on a Friday morning, I usually have the weekly shop int he boot of the car. I see it as a boring, but necessary chore, but applying a more mindful approach I was grateful that we can afford to buy all this stuff so easily. So I set myself a wee task to find out where it all came from.

Aubergines, courgettes and onions from Spain
Mushrooms from East Lothian
Parsley and ricotta cheese from Italy
Tartare Sauce from Bradford
Coconut milk from Thailand
Bananas from Costa Rica
Tomatoes from Israel
Smoked haddock from Iceland
Shellfish from Cumbria
Milk, from Scotland, but packed in Bradford
Eggs from Scotland, but packed in Bradford

Shocking amount of food miles, isn't it? It will get better when the growing season starts here - planting seeds tomorrow!
