Half a House
We were sitting on the lawn by our pool. It is still operational although now only 2/3 full and also going a bit green as the pump is not able to be used as the water level is too low and also the pump hoses have gone to pump liqeufaction out of a warehouse in the city instead. The boys dont seem to care and were splashing away merrily. We were making them stay on the north side as there is a possibility that the house itself may come in for a drip at any time. This is the view of the corner of the house from were I was sitting. I have shown half the house, as we seem to have ony half left. In fact the inside is still there but the outside is not. This is near enough to half!
Quantity surveyers, geotech engineer, and the builder all on the job today. It is great to see some action after 5 months of waiting. It is scary to think of all the new claimaints in the city who dont yet know that this process is going to take forever and once the adrenaline initial trauma wears off then the long grind starts.
Still a lovely day and we are grateful for the space in time to sit and see kids playing in what is available. I used to hear about Janovic playing tennis in an old empty swimming pool and think how crazy that was, and now my kids are playing in an earthquake ravaged city in a pool with green and shallow water and they are HAPPY.
