The Old Lighthouse, Maryport.

We had to go to Maryport today to pick up Ros' car which had been in for a service. We walked around the harbour and the marina. The old lighthouse at the edge of the harbour seemed to be a good subject for today's blip.
L.S.Lowry did a fine painting of the harbour!
We bought some freshly caught fish from the shop on the harbour for our supper!
It was quite sunny for a short while, but now a sea mist, or haar, has arrived in the solway, making for a chilly afternoon.
Maryport was first established as a Roman Fort called Alauna.
In the seventeenth century it was called Ellenfoot.
Humphrey Senhouse changed it's name in 1749 to Maryport, after his wife Mary.
