An email from the couple I'm working with arrived, she is having a tough time, which really sucks. We are at the stage where we need to estabilish the level of friendship we both expect to be maintained during this process, which is tricky when personal family things that are nothing to do with me come up. I have to handle it properly to ensure I don't get in her face and behave like a bosom buddy (which I'm rarely accused of being anyway) but also acknowledge and sympathise (or is it empathise?) with her so as not to be a cold-hearted ice queen. At the end of the day, I'm real about these situations, people get thrown together that have little in common, and we wouldn't have met otherwise.
