Yellow lichen
Winter has returned, the temperature has dropped, it is windy and very dark. I did see a hare scampering away over the field and the woodpecker was hammering like mad in the old oak tree. This is the warmest thing I could find out walking! Not much of an expert but this lichen likes to grow on wooden fencing and neglected garden furniture. In the summer the wasps like to gnaw away at the wood as can be seen on the lower clean part of the plank to make paper for their nests. They like eating our treated garden gates and benches too.
The first part of the TB test today - the vet came at 10 am and they are still going through the cattle now at 6.40 pm. I did give them all a quick lunch including the vet (our dog hid under the table!) but that shouldn't have held them up.
